Health Benefits of Pumpkin

Good Afternoon and Happy Sunday Everyone!

I just got back from visiting the grocery store and was excited to see all the beautiful pumpkins and gourds.  It is ALL about Pumpkin right now- pumpkin bread, pumpkin beer, pumpkin ravioli!  So it only seemed appropriate to share all the health benefits of pumpkin with you.

Health Benefits of PUMPKIN

  1. 1 cup of pure pumpkin puree has 200% of your recommended daily intake of Vitamin A, which is great for your eye-sight!
  2. Pumpkin is loaded with FIBER- 3 grams of fiber per cup.  This will keep you feeling FULL and satisfied.
  3. Pumpkin is also loaded with POTASSIUM and is a great recovery food.  1 cup of pure pumpkin puree has 564 milligrams versus bananas 422.
  4. Pumpkin seeds are loaded with Magnesium, 1 ounce contain 150 mg, which contributes to proper bone formation, maintaining muscle function, and helps regulate bowels.

Try munching on 1/4 cup of pumpkin seeds for a quick and easy snack.  Add 1/2 cup of pumpkin puree to your oatmeal or yogurt bowls with a little cinnamon and raw honey for a festive Fall treat.
